Mrs. Colin Furr Efird, 95, of Midland, departed this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 to be with the Lord whom she loved and faithfully served all her life.
Colin was born September 17, 1922 in Midland, N. C., the seventh child of the late James Franklin Furr and Mary Elizabeth Furr.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Eugene Efird; three brothers, Rowland Furr, Smith Furr, and Thomas Furr; and three sisters, Pauline Ferguson, Bedie White and Evelyn Bost.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Efird Tomberlin of Midland and Maxine Crowell and husband John of Indian Trail; beloved son, Charlie Eugene Efird, Jr. and wife Tammy of Midland; six grandchildren, Stephanie McCoy and husband Trent of Midland, Wesley Wallace, Jr. and wife Jackie of Evans, Georgia, Kent Crowell and wife Ginger of Indian Trail, Julie Crowell of Indian Trail, Joanie and Mark Petersen of Winston Salem and Mary and Woody Middleton of Midland. In addition there are 12 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Natalie McCoy, Sara Wallace and Jessica Byars, Garrison, Landon, Anna Grace, and Nathan Crowell, Cole, Jacob, Charlie Petersen, and Dylon Wallace.
Colin was raised in a Christian home, full of love and happiness and lots of hard work on the farm. She graduated from Bethel High School. She worked in various hosiery mills and at What-a-Burger #5 for 17 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland for many years and was a Sunday School Teacher for 14 years.
Her greatest joy in life was found in the companionship of her family. She will be remembered for the love of family and her kindness to all and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church, Midland on Saturday, May 26 from 2:30 - 3:45. Her funeral service will be at 4:00 following visitation. Officiating will be the Rev. Thomas Gibbs. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family wishes to thank with heartfelt appreciation, Kay Efird, Julie Crowell and Mary Beth Middleton, and the Hospice team of Cabarrus County for their loving care of our mother during her illness.
