Kenneth (“Ken”) Clontz Caldwell Sr, age 97 passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 14, 2023, at St. Andrews Living Center in Concord, NC. He was born to the late Joe Boyce Caldwell and Fleta Rimmer Caldwell on June 11, 1926, in East Monbo Village in Iredell County which was submerged when Lake Norman was created. He attended Troutman High School and afterwards enlisted in the Army serving in World War II.
Ken worked for Consolidated Credit Corporation in Statesville for many years until he started his own company Caldwell Finance Corporation of Statesville, NC which was later sold to M&J Corporation of Shelby, NC. He then moved to North Wilkesboro with United Financial Services which ultimately led him to Concord NC where he founded and operated Caldwell Cleaners on Church Street for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed woodcarving, painting, traveling, and spending time with his step-grandson.
Ken was preceded in death by his first wife Vivian Earnhardt Caldwell of Albemarle, his two sons Kenneth Clontz Caldwell Jr, and Gregory Dean Caldwell, his sister Winfred Mayberry, and his brother Hugh H. Caldwell. He is survived by his spouse Diane Lippard Caldwell, stepson Jason Cagle and wife Holly, and his step-grandson Griffin Cagle as well as a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Hartsell Funeral Home handled the arrangements for a private family graveside service and burial to be held at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
