Retha Burleson

Retha Lewis Burleson, 88, of Albemarle, passed away at home surrounded by family Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

Retha was born March 15, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Homer Cleveland Burleson and the late Ethel Efird Burleson. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Hoyle Burleson, Clegg Burleson, Max Burleson, and Hazel Burleson; and sisters, Faye Morton, Eunice Morton, Ramelle Freeman, and Carolyn Slack.

Retha was a retired farmer and a member of the Albemarle Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 30 years, serving as head elder, preaching sermons and was involved in mission work.  He loved gardening and giving the vegetables to neighbors and friends.  Retha was an amazing father, loving grandfather, great grandfather, and a great friend to many.  He will never be forgotten.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 pm November 17, 2021 at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle, NC, officiated by Pastor Evan Pajeker.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Lois Johnson Burleson of Albemarle, NC, daughters, Denise (Danny) Luther, and Cheryl (Alan) Beaver; son, Randy (Terri) Burleson; sister, Sue (Harold) Page; 8 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, one on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
