Tonya Moore

Tonya Gayle Polk Moore, 53, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.

She was born April 15, 1970 in Charlotte, North Carolina to H.R. Polk and the late Shirley Houston Polk. Tonya was also preceded in death by her grandparents Mulder & Myrtle Polk, and George & Louise Houston.

She graduated from Piedmont High School in 1988 and went on to pursue a career in the medical field. She then spent her career helping others and being a vessel for the Lord through healthcare. Being a loyal employee to Atrium, she spent 25+ years making people’s lives better as a medical assistant.

Tonya had such a joy for life and spending time with those that had positively impacted hers. A lover of making the most of every moment with her family and friends, traveling and board games. She loved to laugh, which we all know was infectious, and made us all want to laugh with her. She was stubborn and headstrong, but only because she knew what she stood for; she was a champion of truth and integrity, and we are all better for it.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Charlotte Church located at 2200 Ashley Road, Charlotte, NC 28208.

Survivors include father, H.R. Polk of Midland, NC, sister, Lynne (James) Kessler, brother, Russell Polk of Midland, NC, nieces Ashley & Cayley Lentz, and Ashley Kessler, great niece Layla Hatfield.
