Agnes Phillips

Mrs. Agnes Ritchie Phillips, 84, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Union County Hospice House in Monroe. She was born November 18, 1928 in Concord, to the late Emery Foy and Addie Wray Ritchie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Pvt. Lionel Nesbit Phillips, Jr. (KIA). Agnes was a strong woman of faith, with a quiet gentle spirit who encouraged many throughout her lifetime. As long as her health allowed, Agnes crocheted many beautiful pieces. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Hatsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Dr., Concord. A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park of Kannapolis. Agnes is survived by her husband of 65 years, L. Nesbit (Neb) Phillips, who provided love and care during her many years of declining health. She is also survived by her; daughter, Vada Phillips Lee and her husband David; grandsons, Bryan Lee (Krista) and Philip Lee (Hilary); granddaughter, Deanna Lee; great-grandchildren, Wylder, Porter, Mandolyn and Henry Lee; brothers, Clyde Ritchie (Deon) and Hubert Ritchie (Peggy); sisters-in-law, Maxine Phillips and Bonta Kee; brothers-in-law, Fred Phillips (Sarah) and Harold Thomas; many nieces and nephews and by her extended church family of West Concord Baptist Church. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd., Lilburn, GA 30047. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Brian Center for their love, care and support for the five years while Mrs. Phillips resided there.
