Albert Oettinger, Jr

Albert Oettinger, Jr. age 87 of Albemarle, passed away on July 3, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center - NE. The family will receive friends at Central United Methodist Church on Friday, July 6 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Jim Yow and Dr. Steve Ayers. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Mr. Oettinger was born in Wilson County on August 3, 1924 to the late Albert Oettinger, Sr. and the late Eunice Bynum Woodard Oettinger. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Joyce Roberts Oettinger, of the home; one son, Anthony Roberts Oettinger and his wife Karen of Albemarle; one daughter, Patricia Oettinger Pontikas and her husband Lou of Columbia, SC; one sister, Ernestine Oettinger Withers of Vero Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Hannah, Ellen, Sarah, Alexandra and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Aaron. Mr. Oettinger proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII and was retired from Colllins-Aikman, after 26 years of service.
