Mr. Albert William "Al" Powell, Sr. 66, of 239 Union Street South Concord, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Born on February 25, 1944 in Mobile Alabama to Julia Lee Tanner Powell of Concord and the late Albert Eugene Powell. Among Al’s charity work he was a past president of Falls Lodge in Badin, was a Shriner and member of Oasis Temple. He was a Special Deputy with the Stanly County Sherriff’s Department from 1969-1975, and an active member of Historic Cabarrus. Al worked as an Area Supervisor with Alcoa in Badin and most recently became a Practitioner of Alternative Medicine. He loved life and people, and was an inspirational PawPaw to his four grandchildren. A Celebration of his Life will be held at his home on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 9:30 AM. Survived by: wife, Renda Boger Powell of the home; son, Albert "Chip" William Powell, Jr. of Concord; daughter, Leanne Powell Arrowood and husband Drew of Concord ; step-children, Darrell "Trent" Hatley and wife Amy of New London; Stacy Leigh Carter and husband Chris of Charlotte; grandchildren, Madison Ruth Hatley, Clay William Hatley, Tristan William Carter, Autumn Leigh Carter.
