Alene Tomberlin

Emily Alene Harwood Tomberlin, 86 years of age, of Midland, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle. Mrs. Tomberlin was born October 27, 1927 in Stanly County to the late Wilburn Lee Harwood and the late Ora Lee Harwood. She was also preceded in death by husband, James Howard Tomberlin, who passed away in 1999, and grandson, Brent Barringer, in 2004. The family will receive friends from 3 - 4 p.m., Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Road, Monroe, NC. The funeral service will be at 4 pm in the sanctuary officiated by Rev. Travis Hutcheson and Rev. Tom Gibbs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include son, Steve Tomberlin and wife, Antonia, of Locust; daughter, Brenda Barringer and husband, James, of Richfield; grandchildren, Chad Barringer, Heather Smith and husband, Jeremy, Brett Tomberlin, and Brooke Tomberlin; great-grandchildren, Brenn and Bo Smith; brother, Roger Harwood of Boone; and sister, Shirley Dunham of Concord. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Tomberlin family.
