Alfred Anderson

Alfred Anthony Anderson (Alfie) of Harrisburg, North Carolina passed away on January 24, 2020.  Alfred was born February 17, 1958 in New York to Marie Leewo and the late Alfred Anderson.  He grew up in Long Island City, Queens (Queensbridge) where he attended PS 150, Junior High School 125 in Queens, before graduating from Charles Evans Hughes High School.

He began working at TIAA-CREF in New York City in 1977 in the Premium Unit as a clerk, earning several promotions along the way.  In 2002, Alfred relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and along with his wife and children settled in Harrisburg, North Carolina.  After being employed at TIAA for 38 years, Alfred happily retired in 2015.  Alfred enjoyed and loved being retired, spending time with family and friends and watching his favorite sports (Tennis, Football, Basketball and Golf).  For all that knew Alfred, he was an amazing husband to his wife Ruth of 35 years, father to his two children, Sharday and Fred and their family dog, Bowser.  Alfred cherished his circle of brotherhood and friendships, and was always there to help anyone when he was needed.  He truly was a blessing and a joy to know and love.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Ruth Anderson, his daughter Sharday Inez Anderson and his mother, Marie Leewo; sisters Fontain Allen and Michelle Emerson, brother Cheyenne Anderson, brothers-in-law Gary Allen, Herb Emerson, Donald Rice and Roger Whitfield; sisters-in-law Konnie Rice, Omodele Anderson, Debbie Whitfield, Briget Whitfield and Alicia Whitfield; as well as nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, and a host of wonderful and supportive friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Alfred W. Anderson and his father, Alfred Anderson.

A Memorial Service will be held, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, February  08, 2020 at NewLife Baptist Church, 1281 Biscayne Drive, Concord NC, 28027.
