Alfred Linwood Ballard, 97, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
Mr. Ballard was born October 21, 1923 to the late Alexander Pierce and Esther Jones Ballard of Mt. Gilead. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mae Rose Russell Ballard; grandson, Amos Russell Forte; one brother and two sisters.
Alfred served in the United States Air Force during World War II and then worked at Ritchie Auto Parts for over forty years. He was an avid gardener and worked hard to have a beautiful manicured lawn that was the envy for many of his neighbors. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Albemarle where he was in the Saints Sunday School Class. These men were a constant source of friendship and encouragement to him. Alfred was a quiet gentle spirited man that will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Mr. Ballard will lie in state at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 11:00 am, at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Trent Drye and Rev. Ryan Clore.
Alfred is survived by, daughters, Jan Forte and husband Russ, Amy Brinson and husband Ed; grandchildren, Jennifer Drye and husband Trent, Brett Brinson and wife Kassi; great-grandchildren, Larson Drye, TJ Drye and Bryant Brinson, and many special nieces and nephews.
