Alice Baucom

Alice Little Baucom, 98 years of age of Monroe, passed away peacefully Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe. Mrs. Baucom was born July 12, 1913 in Union County to the late David Luther Little and Elizabeth Brewer Little. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Brice Lee Baucom in 2002; her daughters, Kate B. Garner and Nellie B. Westbrook; her son-in-law, Rayvon Griffin; six brothers and three sisters. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Saturday, June 2, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Antioch Baptist Church at 6223 Love Mill Road in Monroe. Rev. Charles Broome and Rev. Joe Query will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at the home of her son, Allan, at 9601 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe. Survivors include her sons, Joel David Baucom and his wife, Paula, and Allan Lee Baucom and his wife, Marie, all of Monroe; her daughter, Janet B. Griffin of Monroe; her son-in-law, Richard Westbrook of Ocean Isle Beach and son-in-law, Max Garner of Thomasville; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
