Mr. Scott, 69, of Harrisburg died Wednesday, February 20, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Scott was born in Augusta, Ga. on September 20, 1943 to the late Ellie and V.W. Scott. Upon graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve including two years active duty aboard the USS Agile (MSO-421). After returning from active duty, he went on to obtain a BBA degree from Augusta State University while working full time and attending classes at night. Mr. Scott retired in 2009 as co-owner of Hydro-Carolinas Marketing after 45 years in the PVF industry. He had the honor of being elected to life membership in Derita Masonic Lodge 715 where he had served as Master, certified lecturer and 14 years as lodge secretary. He was also a charter member of Orphans Masonic Lodge 761, Oxford, NC and held memberships in the Oasis Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite. Mr. Scott’s favorite leisure activity was RV camping with his wife in the N.C. foothills and on the S.C. coast. He is survived by his wife, caregiver and best friend Gail of Harrisburg; daughter, Amy Taylor (Chuck) of Charlotte; sons, George Scott (Sonia) of Indian Trail; Kevin Scott (Todd) of Charlotte; Adam Scott (Ana) of Charlotte, Zach Scott of Charlotte; sister, Susan Griggs of Mobile, AL; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 12 until 2 pm. A Memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2 pm, with masonic rites. Burial will be held at a later date at The Salisbury National Cemetery.
