Allene Greene

Barbara “Allene” Broome Greene, 76 years of age of Locust, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center in Concord. Mrs. Greene was born September 9, 1935 in Stanly County to the late General Dewey Broome and Myrtle Effie Hathcock Broome. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Meeker Greene in 2006 and her brother, Brantley Broome. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, June 17, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 11:00, Monday at Freedom Baptist Church in Locust with a 30 minute state prior to the service. Rev. Gerald Baucom will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Greene, Roger Greene and his wife, Marie, and Tim Greene and his wife, Shirley, all of Locust; her daughter, Rhonda G. Taylor of Locust; her sister, Hazel Liles of Locust; one grandchild, Brantley Taylor, and two step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 20015 Coley Store Road, Locust, NC 28097. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Greene family.
