Alma Lillie Speaks, 90, of Mount Gilead, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024 at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Alma was born August 27, 1933 in Boone, North Carolina to the late John Donald Dotson and the late Byna Hicks Dotson. 

She was also preceded in death by husband Harry Speaks and seven siblings.

Alma was an amazing mother, grandmother and wife, her family was her number one priority. She also enjoyed going to yard sales, antiques, and picnicking in the mountains. When her children were little she would make their clothing, she loved putting puzzles together and making crafts. She was always ready to shopping. Her family will always remember her love for Christmas, cooking and spending time with all of the family. 

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024.

Survivors include daughters Sheri Helle of Concord, NC, Donna Speaks of Mount Gilead, NC, Debra Mabry (Rick) of Norwood, NC grandchildren Daniel Helle, Cayla Robison (Brian), Jamie Caskey (Travis), Shane Porter, and Dillon Mabry (Shelley) great-grandchildren Brittany Rudd and Logan Rudd, and two great-great-grandchildren Juliet and Dante sister Eunice Bushberger of Boone, also many nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be shared to St. Jude's Children Hospital.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Speaks family.
