Dea. Alphonso Gross

Dea. Alphonso Gross, 85, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Accordius Nursing & Rehab Center in Concord.

Alphonso was born July 29, 1938, in Maryland to the late Louis Gross and the late Elizabeth Gaskins Gross. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wilfred Davis and Donald Gross; and his sister, Shirley Gross.

Alphonso lived most of his life in Prince Georges county Maryland. He was dedicated Man of God and fellowshipped at St. Paul Church for many years as the Chairman of the Diaconate Board. He loved and supported his community and church family. 

Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Dea. Viola Harvell Gross; son Dea. Robert (Vanita) Gross; grandchildren, Robert N. Gross Jr., Rasheika (Ronald) Cain, Le'Nita Johnson, Ja'Loni Johnson, and Vicktoria Gross; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Orlandus (Shirley) Gross and George Gross; 2 sisters, Regina Deal and Dea. Marjorie Gross; and a host of nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:45 pm, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at University Hills Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Robert J. Williams, Sr.

Our beloved Alphonso will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park Concord, during a private committal service.
