Alton Barfield

Alton Leroy Barfield, age 83, of Albemarle, N.C., died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at NorthEast CMC in Concord, N.C. Mr. Barfield was born October 11, 1925 in Columbus County,NC. and was retired from Cannon Mills. He was a member of Poplin Grove Baptist Church. Military honors graveside by Albemarle-Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was the son of the late Stephen Riley Barfield and the late Theodocia (Rozier) Barfield. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vergie Elizabeth Almond Barfield. He is survived by his Son-Alton Barfield and wife Donna of Locust, N.C. Daughter-Gay Drye and husband Kenneth of Oakboro, N.C. Four grandchildren Four great-grandchildren Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home - Albemarle, N.C., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Graveside service will be at Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
