Alvin Wayne Dobbs, 69 years of age, of Locust, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at his residence in Locust.
Alvin was born October 4, 1946 in Kansas to the late Howard A. L. Dobbs and the late Ethel Mae Lynn Dobbs. He was also preceded in death by brother, Howard Dobbs, Jr..
Alvin proudly served his country in the United States Navy and retired after twenty years of service at the rank of CTR 1.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 13575 Broadway Avenue, Midland, NC 28107. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Ronnie Cooper and Rev. Tim B. Jones will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Midland. Burial will follow at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
Survivors include wife, Leona Dobbs of Locust; daughters, Leona (Alan) Broome of Fort Mill, SC, Barbara (Jonathan) Boelte of Concord, Patricia Barnett of Locust, Sandra (Carl) Kress of King, Gena Baxter of Charlotte and Kathryn Verdice Dobbs of Montana; 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; brothers, Arthur (Jo Sharon) Dobbs of Rabbits Cove, TX, and Tracey (Patty) Dobbs of Waverly, KS; sisters, Margaret Holden of Bartlesville, OK, Lynetta (Harold) Jackson of Thomas, OK, Linda (Terry) Piper of Americus, KS, and Connie (Richard) Prock of Emporia, KS.
