Alvin "Jim" Coburn Earnhardt, 92, of Misenheimer, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Woodhaven Court in Albemarle.
Alvin was born July 15, 1928 in Stanly County to the late Rondie Eugene Earnhardt and Nellie Verna Drye Earnhardt.
Alvin, known to his co-workers as "Jim",was a brick mason, retired from serving Alcoa for 28 years. He began his Alcoa career in 1952 as a carpenter. He then went on to work in the Carbon Plant and Construction Department, where he served as a brick mason beginning in June 1966. In addition, he also did carpentry work and filled sheetrock for Contractor James Tucker. He was a lifetime member of Gold Hill Wesleyan Church where he served on the Board of Directors, Cemetery Committee, choir member, and was very active in the upkeep of the church. His love of God, church, and family was very evident to everyone who knew him along with his mischievous grin and ways just like "Alvin the chipmunk"!
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Helen Taylor Earnhardt and granddaughter Vickie Earnhardt Mace, his brothers, Harold Earnhardt, James Earnhardt, Jack Earnhardt, and sister, Jeanette Earnhardt.
Survivors include sons, Ralph (Teresa) Earnhardt of Gold Hill, Gary (Melissa) Earnhardt of Richfield, daughters, Sandra (Terry) Hahn of New London,and Michelle (Joe) Bullock of Durham; 8 grandchildren, Michael (Lacie) Earnhardt, Kelly (Brett) Hahn Hainline, David (Sara) Hahn, Sarah (Matt) Earnhardt Pace, Kayte Hahn, Abby Earnhardt, Megan Bullock, and Joshua Bullock; 6 great-grandchildren, Dakota (Kerry) Mace, Jacob Earnhardt, Nico Andre, Vera Hahn, Kayelynn Pace, and a great-grandchild Earnhardt on the way; 2 great-great-twin granddaughters, Emeri and Loralei Mace due in August.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Gold Hill Wesleyan Church in Gold Hill officiated by Pastor Mark Loman. Burial will follow at the Gold Hill Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 830 Liberty Road, Gold Hill. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
