Anita Lynn Sedberry passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at home in Locust at the age of 56.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 33 years, Kevin Sedberry; her beloved daughter Shelby Sedberry (Kevin Morissette); her loving mother Sara Little; two adoring sisters Alicia Plyler (Chad) and Jennifer Woodall (Jonathan); five incredible nieces and nephews, Kimberly Hurlocker (RJ), Jacob Plyler (Alli), Brittnee Woodall, Barrett Plyler, Baylee Woodall; one beloved grandniece, Brynley Hurlocker; and her amazing best friend of over forty years, Kim Almond Bates (John). She was preceded in death by her cherished father Wayne “Bud” Little and her beloved daughter, Alyssa Maie Sedberry.
Anita Sedberry was born May 1, 1966, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Wayne Bud Little and Sara Little (Thompson). Anita graduated from West Stanly High School in 1984. In 1987, she met the one true love of her life, Kevin while cruising at Sky City. Kevin and Anita were together for two years before they were married on September 2, 1989. In December 1992, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl into this world, Shelby Lynn Sedberry. Anita, Kevin, and Shelby were lucky enough to go on many wonderful vacations, Anita’s favorite being Disney World. While Disney World is the happiest place on Earth, Anita was able to make it an even happier place than it already was. This rings true for every facet of Anita’s life. She never met a stranger, and upon meeting Anita you instantly became her friend. In 2000, Anita’s health began to decline, but it never once broke her spirit. Even with a cancer diagnosis in November of 2017, Anita still maintained her happy, positive disposition. During a time when many would crumble, Anita was instead known as the “Homecoming Queen of Chemo.” Anita celebrated five years cancer free on November 14, 2022. Cancer did not defeat her.
Anita was an incredible wife and mother. She supported Kevin and Shelby in more ways than she will ever know. Not a day went by where Anita didn’t tell Shelby how much she loved her and how proud of her she was. One of the happiest days of her life was when Shelby met the love of her life, Dr. Kevin Morissette, who she affectionately called her “bonus son.” It was no secret how much she loved her family, she let them know every chance she could. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and the many random people she talked to everywhere she went. Anita was a person to be proud of, a person to be admired. Anita radiated love and compassion her entire life, her spirit will live on through all the people she touched. She truly made the world a better place.
