Ann Elizabeth Abbott-Snavely, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her step-son, Dakota Ross Snavely.
Ann was born June 20, 1966 in Rochester, NY to Deyuos C. Abbott Jr. and Jean Ann Morgan Abbott.
Ann excelled as a tennis player. In high school she was on a State Championship team for two years. In college at Northeastern University (Boston) she was on a NCAA conference championship level. Ann was a graduate of the University of West Florida (Criminal Justice) and earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from North Carolina Central University. She was an active guardian ad litem as a child advocate. Professionally she worked for the State of NC as an Assistance Warden, receiving many professional awards for her managerial achievements. She was a devoted wife to her husband Jimmy and was a member of the NC Fallen Fire Fighters. She helped Jimmy establish Red Knights Motorcycle Club, NC Chapter 24. She will be deeply missed by her devoted family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, June 5, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Adam Hatley. Burial will follow at Stanly Memorial Gardens, Albemarle, North Carolina.
Survivors include husband, Jimmy Ross Snavely; parents, Deyuos C. Abbott Jr. and Jean Ann Morgan Abbott; brother, Deyuos C. Abbott III of Alaska. She also leaves behind many friends and her five beloved cats. At her request, all pallbearers will be women.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Red Knights Chapter 24 in memory of Elizabeth Snavely. Elizabeth established a fund to replace a deceased service dog for Cole Reavis an active member of the Red Knights Chapter. Paypal.me/rkmcnc24.
