Anna Marie Stanton, 90, of Harrisburg, NC, formerly of Wellsville, NY, 131 N. Brooklyn Ave. from 1942 to 2011, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center - Northeast. Anna was born on December 29, 1921, to the late Michael and Mary Velas Vorozilchak with five siblings which included one brother, George whom she was so proud and fond of. In 1940 Anna married Edson J. Stanton of Nicholson, PA. The two moved to Wellsville, NY as Edson became employed by the Sinclair Refinery and started their family. Edson passed away on April 6, 1979. Anna and Edson raised four children, James and wife, Ruth of Nicholson, PA who survive, Linda Hill who predeceased in 2001 in Vienna, NJ., and her husband Alvin and son Gerald Hill who survive, Richard E. Stanton of Harrisburg, NC with grandchildren Ann, Sean and Jennifer, all of Fulton, NY and son, Michael and Ruth Stanton of Harrisburg, NC with grandchildren, Bryan of Branson, MO, Samantha and Nicholas of Charlotte, NC. Anna was employed at Grahams Store on West Pearl Street in Wellsville prior to employment at JJ Newberrys for 21 years from 1958 to 1979. Anna retired in 1979 to take care of her husband who was in ailing health. She enjoyed baseball, the New York Yankees and her favorite player, Derek Jeter. Ann enjoyed and would faithfully watch Nascar on Sundays and would keep up on all the drivers so she could visit and enjoy conversation with her son Michael. Anna is loved and will always be remembered for her quick comments which would bring a smile and laughter to those who knew and loved her. She loved country music; Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard and Charlie Pride. She loved all of her grandchildren and was looking forward to her granddaughter’s wedding planned for October, 2012. She was a social member of the American Legion Post 702 of Wellsville and March of Dimes. Anna loved animals. Memorials may be made to SPCA Serving Allegany County, P.O.
