Annette Deese Carpenter, age 74, of 111 Johnia Court, Thomasville, formerly of Locust, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home. She was born on November 10, 1936 in Stanly County to the late James Wesley and Lela Pearl Hathcock Deese. Mrs. Carpenter is also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Carpenter, who passed away in 1995 and a son Scott Carpenter, who passed away in 1979. Annette was a strong, independent woman who had the kindest heart of anyone. She would make any sacrifice so her children would not have to go without. Annette loved her dog Lilly and her grandchildren with all her heart. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Locust and a retired administrative assistant from S&D Hosiery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Locust from 12:00 until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. Kinney Wallace to officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by her son, William Kelly Carpenter and wife, Crystal, of Thomasville; daughter, Tammie Vagts and husband, Chris, of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Christopher, Richard, and Tommy Vagts and Nikki, Daniel, and Madison Carpenter; and sisters, Kathy Kluttz and Betty Porter, both of Locust.
