Annette Russell

Ida Annette Russell, 80, of Richfield, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.

Annette was born May 15, 1944 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Herbert and Julia Newbern. She was also preceded in death by husband, Henry "Mitch" Russell and their furbaby, Stinky.

After completing business school, Annette moved to Washington DC, where she worked for the federal government. In 2003, after 40 years, she retired and moved to Richfield, NC with her husband. Annette enjoyed traveling with Mitch. She loved all animals, especially dogs. Annette was very easy-going, funny, quiet, and she loved to laugh. Most of all, she was a loving wife and aunt. She will be forever loved and dearly missed.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 3:00 pm at New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Richfield officiated by Pastor Katie Lineberger. Annette will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Survivors include cousin, Mary Metcalf (Bob) Penland and their children, Patrick and Allison (Mike); special granddaughter, Aaliyah Mae Tipton; nephews, Steve Russell and Jason Russell; nieces, Donna Edenburn (Tom Bruner), Wanda (Paul) Rosenberger, and Robin Huneycutt (Bobby Faulkner); and many extended family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stanly County Humane Society, 2049 Badin Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
