Annie Dennis

Annie Lee Gardner Dennis, 98, of Albemarle stepped into her heavenly home on May 15, 2017 in the evening.

She was born November 26, 1918 in Anson County. She was the daughter of the late Zebulon Oscar Gardner and Nellie Ann Gibson Gardner. Mrs. Dennis was a lifetime member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church at the time of her death. She was married to the late Zackary Dumas "Doomie" Dennis Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Dennis Poplin (Doyle), a son, Zackary Dumas Dennis, Jr. (Kaye); and daughter, Sue Dennis Morgan (Gerald) all of Albemarle. Mrs. Dennis had 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Dennis had a career in the Wiscasset Cotton Mill where she ran combers for many years. After leaving the mill, she owned and operated the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park until she retired in 1986. Her true calling was the care of her family and friends and the nurture of her children, grand and great grand, and great-great grand children.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM , Friday, May 19, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Anderson Grove Baptist Church, 222 5 E. Main Street in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Dr. Gregory Poplin and Rev. Kent Little. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "The Chest of Joash" at Anderson Grove Baptist Church, 2225 East Main Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or Community Hospice of Troy, 1024 Albemarle Road, Suite 904, Troy, NC 27371.
