Annie Poplin

Annie Lee Cline Poplin, 88 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at her residence. Annie Lee was born March 18, 1925, in Cabarrus County to the late Lee Oscar Cline and the late Annie Phillips Cline . She was also preceded in death by husband, Walter Smith Poplin; sisters, Billie Marie Poplin and Dorothy "Dot" Lowder; brother, Frank "Bud" Cline. Annie Lee graduated from Winecoff High School in Cabarrus County in 1941 and then attended Catawba College for one year majoring in Business Administration. Her first job was with Kannapolis Finance Company which was transferred to Concord Finance Company and made manager. After her marriage to Walter Smith Poplin in 1948, they moved to Albemarle where she continued her career in banking. On October 10, 1949, she became employed by Albemarle Building and Loan Association, which is now First Citizens Bank. She retired on November 30, 1993 after 44 years of service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 25th at Main Street United Methodist Church, with Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at the Aquadale Baptist Church Cemetery, 32871 Church Road, Norwood. She is survived by her daughter, Rita Poplin McKeithan of Albemarle; grandsons, Austin and Koby McKeithan of Albemarle.
