Annie Stroupe

Annie Mae Rushing Stroupe, 84 years of age, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at her home in Monroe.

Annie was born June 19, 1931 in Monroe to the late John Worley Rushing and the late Carrie Odell Rushing. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, David Cornelius Stroupe, who passed away in 2011; sisters, Julia Clontz, Ruby Kiker, Dorothy Stroupe; and brother, Jesse Rushing.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 3pm on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Rd., Monroe. The funeral service will follow at 3pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Joe Query and Rev. Arval Rushing. The burial will be in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meeting at the home.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Lancaster and husband, Richard of Indian Trail, Becky Coppedge and husband, Lenward of Monroe, Cynthia Dalton and husband, Jerry of Oakboro; son, David R. Stroupe and wife, Teresa of Wadesboro; sisters, Clara Troutman and husband, Lonnie of Statesville, Delane Mullis and husband Don of Unionville; brother, John A. Rushing and wife, Bobbie of Unionville; grandchildren, Marty Tomberlin, Amy Purser, Richard Lancaster, III, Shane Lancaster, Chris Helms, Christina Adams, Tina Haney, Matthew Haney, Lindsay Aponte, Erin Love, Rebekah Coppedge, Matthew Ennis, Katherine Gray; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Annie loved gardening, flowers, and cooking. She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, and attended as long as her health would permit. Annie had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger.
