Anthony (Andy) Layne Simpson, 52, of Midland, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his home in Midland.
Andy was born February 10, 1972, in Monroe, North Carolina to Rondall (Ronnie) Bruce Simpson and Frances Rushing Simpson.
After recovering from an auto accident in 1990, Anthony Simpson graduated from Goodwill Industries with a degree in computer programming and worked in Charlotte, NC, and Monroe, NC for United Carolina Bank and various businesses. He also obtained a Doctor of Theology through Carolina Bible College of Concord, NC.
He served as a home missionary in Montana and successfully established three works during his time there. He collaborated and published a six-year program of study through Carolina Bible College, later named Macedonia Baptist College. He also served as the COO of Macedonia Baptist College from 2006 to present.
He was a resident of Montana until October of 2023, when he moved back to North Carolina. He was a certified drone operator, helping many Montana cattle ranchers and real estate companies. He was co-owner of Shadows of the West, a custom metal art and welding fabrication business. He enjoyed art photography, hunting, fishing, glassing, and taxidermy, specializing in euro mounts. He was heavily involved in the Fishtail Community including Bible studies, Shipp’s Assisted Living, and community special events, including Fishtail Family Fun Days.
Survivors include wife, Alisa Dianne Simpson; daughter, Lauren Nicole Ostwald (Colton); son, Jed Anthony Simpson; stepdaughters Channing Skye Wagner (Josh), Lucille Grayson Mesimer; stepsons David Brandon Sykes, Christian Chance Mesimer, Noah Luke Mesimer (Hannah), Gabriel Thomas Mesimer; father, Ronnie Simpson, mother, Frances Simpson, mother-in-law, Judy Kerley; sisters, Cindy Owen (Tony), Gwen Hathcock (Wayne); brother, Jeremy Simpson (Rebekah); grandchildren, River Ostwald, Baby Boy Ostwald, Nathan Wagner, Seth Wagner; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Bright Light Baptist Church Concord, North Carolina. The funeral will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm, officiated by Dr. Ronnie Simpson.
