Antonio "Tony" L. Granillo, 75 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 26, 2015 at his home.
Mr. Granillo was born February 14, 1940 in Arizona to the late Bernardino Granillo and the late Rafaele Granillo. He was also preceded in death by three brothers. two sisters and a grandson.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving over 28 years and retired as a First Sergeant. He taught English as a Second Language and was also a JROTC Instructor at Tarheel High School in Bladen County.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Wednesday September 30, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 17236 Frog Pond Road in Oakboro. The funeral service will be held in the church sanctuary at 1:00 PM officiated by Dr. Wayne Bennett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors performed by Fort Bragg.
Survivors include wife of 51 years, Polly N. Granillo, daughter Cynthia Joy and husband Charles, son, Antonio L.N. Granillo and wife Vibeke, daughter, Armida Chavis and husband Charlie, brothers, Pete Beltran, Hector Beltran, John Granillo and Manuel Granillo, and sisters, Margarita Lopez and Lupe Monarque, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
