Arlin Jerry "A.J." Tucker Sr., 87 years of age, of Midland, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at Novant Health - Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.
A.J. was born October 18, 1929 in Midland, NC to the late Robert Lewis Tucker and the late Florence Wilson Tucker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, RL and Jackie Tucker.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:30pm, on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Bethel United Methodist Church, at 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Rev. Mark Clontz . Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Survivors include wife of 66 years, Joyce Black Tucker of Midland; three sons, Arlin (Faye) Tucker, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michael J. (Linda) Tucker of Wilmington, and Douglas (Donna) Tucker of Midland; brother, John Wayne Tucker of Kannapolis; two sisters, Mary Arrowood of Spartanburg, and Eloise Moore of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Olivia (Mike) Steed, Jason (Brooke) Tucker, Tia (Adam) Alfred, Marc (Aleigha) Tucker, Chandler (Jessica) Tucker, and Cameron (Stephanie) Tucker; and five great-grandchildren, Rachel Callie, Brayden, Gabe, Chloe, and Donovan.
A.J. was the owner and operator of A.J. Tucker Supply Inc. since 1961. The family business continues to be operated in two states by his three sons under the name "A.J. Tucker Family Partnership". He was a one-time constable of Cabarrus County, as well as former Mayor pro tem of Midland. He was a devoted family man who was always willing to share wisdom with everyone, and a master story-teller of his own life experiences growing up in his beloved town of Midland, NC.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's charity of donor's choice.
