Arnold Benton

Arnold Ray Benton, 82, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home Midland on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 1 until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm, with Rev. Travis Hutchison and Rev. Justin Nash. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe. Mr. Benton was born on August 25, 1930 in Union County, to the late Raymnd Sylvester Benton and Katie Velma Haigler Benton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siter Hilda Furr. Mr. Benton was a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force having served in the Korean War. After four years in the military, he served with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for 26 years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Crystal Eileen Davis Benton of the home; son, Craig Benton and wife Carla of Monroe; daughter, Teresa Frazier, Dawn Cady and husband Roger, and Regina Allen and husband Marvin all of Monroe; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, J.B.
