Arthur David “Boots” Ervin, age 89 of Concord, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Big Elm Nursing center in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm on Saturday January 28, 2012 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service will be Sunday January 29, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Southside Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Joey Morrison, Rev. Curtis Park, and Rev. Allen Reid. He will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will be at 11 am on Monday, January 30, 2012 at West Concord Cemetery with military rites by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. Arthur was born on May 6, 1922 in Cabarrus County, to the late James Lee and Bertha Idora Russ Ervin. He was also preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ellen Hartsell Ervin, and siblings James, Wilburn, Ruby, Johnsie, Gertrude, and Elva. He is survived by his son, Robbie M. Ervin and wife Shelia of Concord; daughter, Murlinda E. Jordan and husband William Jr. of China Grove; granddaughter, Leslie Honeycutt and husband Craig of China Grove; great grandson, Matthew Honeycutt; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, R.A. Plummer, Ted and Sharon Humberger. Mr. Ervin was educated in Cabarrus County School System, and attended the Evans Business School and Tennessee Music School. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Concord, were he was the Training Union Director, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. Arthur served in the US Army and served his country honorably in WWII. He worked at Cannon Mills and Baxter Clothing stores for 31 years.
