Arthur Godfrey

Arthur "Gene" Eugene Godfrey, 83 years of age, of Harrisburg, NC passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, NC.
Gene was born March 17, 1931 in Rutherfordton, NC. He was one of 13 children born to the late James Monroe Godfrey and Etta Clyde Godfrey. He was also preceded in death by beloved wife of 57 years, Evelyn Martin Godfrey, who passed away June 26, 2013.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 am - 6:00 pm, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Charles Efird. At other times the family will be gathering at his daughter Robin Waddell's home, 4418 Coddle Creek Dr., Concord, NC 28207.
He is survived by his son, Mike Godfrey and wife Joyce of Gastonia; daughters, Robin Waddell and husband Michael of Concord, and Gena Koch and husband Bruce of Foster City, CA; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Gene served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Walke during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Western Electric as a methods analyst.
