Arthur "Glenn" Hartsell, age 84 of 49 Porter Street Concord, NC passed away on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Avante At Concord. Born in Cabarrus County on July 09, 1925 to the late Rosa (Sanders) Hartsell and the late Paul Monroe Hartsell. Also preceded in death by brothers, Robert M. Hartsell and J.C. Hartsell, and sisters, Carrie Hartsell and Ellen Ervin. Mr. Hartsell attended Concord City Schools, graduated from Evans College of Commerce, earning a diploma in Business Administration. He served his country in the US Army during WWII , with the 3rd Army in three major battles. He served with the 30th Anti-Aircraft, 635th Field Artillery. He was with the first outfit to fire at Ryan River . Glenn was a supervisor with Cannon Mills with 45 years of service, and was a member of McGill Baptist Church, where he was very active in his church. He had a great love for music, especially the piano. The family meeting place will be the home. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home-Concord. Funeral services will be held at McGill Baptist Church on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Steve Ayers officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Survived By: wife, Juanita Hartsell of Concord; sons, Ronald Glenn Hartsell & wife Anita of Concord; and Russ Monroe Hartsell & wife Susan of Concord; daughter, Glenita Marie Riley & husband Chris of Mooresville; eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
