Arthur Mason

Arthur Edward Mason, 81, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Mason was born December 26, 1938 in Atlanta, GA to the late Jimmie Lou Williams Mason and the late Arthur Ernest Mason.  He was one of nine children.  His parents relocated their family to Cleveland, Ohio.  He attended and graduated from East Tech High School.  While in Cleveland he met and fell in love with his wife Winifred Davis in 1956.  They were married 62 years.  In this union, five children were born and one adopted (Eric).  He was employed at the Cleveland VA Medical Center for 35 years.  He started at the VA as a meat cutter, cook and was promoted to Supervisor over the kitchen. He also did some catering.

Arthur enjoyed playing basketball, playing cards, going fishing and the flea market every Saturday.  He loved the Cleveland Browns, the Cavaliers and the Cleveland Indians.  He loved spending time with all his children and all the grandchildren.

Arthur Edward Mason leaves to mourn his wife, 4 daughters; Veronica Mccrary (Paul), Jaqueline Nalls (Willaim), Aliece Wright (Neal), April Mason, Arthur Edward Mason Jr. (Deceased) his wife Sheryl, Eric Mason (Deceased), 1 brother;  Larry J. Mason and 1 sister; Dorothy Lawrence of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren; Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:00 pm on August 15th, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, officiated by Pastor Sheldon Johnson.  Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Harrisburg.
