Arthur Ray Morgan, 93 years of age, of Locust, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Brookdale Concord Parkway in Concord.

Mr. Morgan was born September 22, 1922 to the late Rufus and Mary Ellen Morgan. In addition to his parents, Arthur was also preceded in death by wife, Gladys Lee Morgan; 2 sisters, and 7 brothers.

He was a truck driver with McLean Trucking for 33 years after serving in the Army for 3 years, during WWII. He was also a member of the Union Masonic Lodge #618 AF & AM of Midland and was a former staff leader for a number of years at the V.F.W. in Locust.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM-4:00 PM on April 17, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Locust. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm officiated by Rev. Tommy Ross and Rev. Hatley. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery at 320 South Central Ave., Locust. Graveside military rites will be presented by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12 and the Union Masonic Lodge #618 AF & AM of Midland.

Survivors include his son, Arthur "Ray" Morgan, Jr. of Winston Salem; fiancée, Jane Simpson; step-daughter, Joan Long, and his Seal Point feline companion "Tabby" and he loved all the members of the Simpson family and considered them "His Girls" and a number of nieces.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Arthur's memory are asked to consider Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Cabarrus County and Brookdale Concord Parkway for their loving and compassionate care during this time.
