Audie Morgan

Audie Katherine Gudger Morgan, 86 years of age, of Albemarle, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle .

Audie was born November 28, 1928 in Rowan County to the late Ervin McCree Gudger and the late Dealie Byrd Gudger. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, David Franklin Morgan, in 2006; sisters, Jean Colley, Edith Sinclair, Mildred Lowder, Peggy Strickland, and Betty Lou Abenchein; brothers, Delbert and Eddie Gudger; and grandson, Brian Matthew Liles.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Hill Street Church of God, officiated by Rev. Thomas Andrufski. The burial will follow at 1pm at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home of her daughter Edith Bowden, 1210 W. Main St. in Albemarle.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Morgan and wife Wanda, and Jon Derek Morgan, both of Albemarle; daughters, Linda Diane Smith and husband Warren of Knob Noster, MO, Edith Bowden and husband Bill of Albemarle, Kathy Allen and husband Rex of Norwood, and Shawn Strickland of Albemarle; sister, Odessa Springer of Albemarle; brother, Larry Elbert Gudger of Albemarle; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchildren.

Audie loved her family and her many friends. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to yard sales. She loved shopping for jewelry, hats, and new clothes. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tracy Lowder of Red Cross for his faithful friendship and support. The family would also like to thank the staff at Bethany Woods and Community Hospice for their compassionate care.
