Barbara Brown Caudle of Albemarle died peacefully on Friday evening, November 20, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center – Mercy Campus, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born September 1, 1932, in Albemarle, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Milton Brown and the late Louise Parker Brown. She was also preceded in death by infant son, Bill. She is survived by husband Les of the home; sons Les III and wife Lisa of Middletown, Md; Michael of Raleigh, and David of Cary; granddaughters: Tyler VanSteinburgh and husband Benjamin; Brittney and Jenna; brother James (Jim) Brown, Jr. of Albemarle, and sister Helen Hobson of Salisbury. Barbara was a homemaker who loved being with people and entertaining friends and family. She also enjoyed substitute teaching, having spent 20 plus years in the Stanly County School system. Barbara loved to travel, having traveled throughout the United States and abroad for over twenty years as an Army spouse. The family will receive friends from 6-8, Monday, November 23, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times the family will meet at the home. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 24, at Central United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Weekly and Rev. Leslee Wray will officiate.
