Barbara Jean Smith Crowell, 65, of 35710 Hathcock Road, New London, passed away on October 1, 2011 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM. At other times the family will meet at her home. The funeral will be in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11 AM. Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and the burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Born April 25, 1946 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Avos Vons Smith and the late Hazel Klutz Smith. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Avos “Jr” Smith. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Roger Franklin Crowell of the home; son, Terry Crowell of New London; grandchildren, Justin, Kari and Lainee Crowell; and brother David Smith of Albemarle.
