Barbara Southard

Barbara Jean Southard, 70, of Jackson Springs, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family in the early morning of Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Barbara was born November 8, 1952, in North Carolina to the late Joseph Odell Harrison and the late Cora Elizabeth Duke. She was also preceded in death by sister, Diane Honeycutt; brothers, Rayvon Harrison, Marvin Harrison, Kenny Harrison, Charles Harrison, Jesse Harrison, and Steve Harrison.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow the visitation in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Gene Thomas and Pastor David Sanders.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her cherished family.  Some of her favorite pastimes included traveling, fishing, crocheting, cross-stitching, and shopping at flea markets.   She particularly enjoyed listening to gospel and country music. Barbara spent many days tending to her garden and her flowers.  She was also known for her holiday meals that she would prepare for family gatherings.  Barbara was a woman who loved the Lord and being as involved as she could in His service.

Survivors include husband, Jesse Southard of Jackson Springs, NC, daughters, Sherry (Al) Blalock of Midland, NC, Tracie (David) Sanders of Albemarle, NC.; son, Robert (Holly) Shaver of Albemarle, NC.; stepchildren, Joseph Burleson of Rockwell, NC. Janie (Jimmy) Jones of Salisbury, NC., Clifton Southard of Jackson Springs, NC., Faye Sheffield of Jackson Springs, NC., Tony (Monica) Southard of Asheboro, NC., Bonnie (Casey) Haworth of Asheboro, NC.; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Rosa (Dale) King of Richfield, NC., Becky (Garland) Bailey of Rockwell, NC., Teresa (Tim) Pruitt of Goldhill, NC., Trisha (Rick) Cofer of Rockwell, NC., Kathy Stubbs of Rockwell, NC.,
