Barbara Taylor Hunter

December 8, 1935 — July 5, 2023

Greensboro

Barbara Taylor Hunter, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Lancaster, SC, aged 87, went to her heavenly home on July 5, 2023.

Barbara was the daughter of the late Julius Richard Taylor and the late Hazel Kathryn Lambert Taylor of Lancaster, SC.

She was known for her sweet welcoming demeanor, sharp wit, and her kind Christian spirit. She loved food – reading cookbooks, watching cooking shows, planning menus, and especially preparing food for her family and friends. She loved the years spent traveling around the country on car trips with her devoted husband of 58 years, Glenn; often driving 2-3 hours to Myrtle Beach, Hartsville SC, or some other destination to eat at a favorite restaurant, only to get right back in the car and drive back home. The journey was as enjoyable for them as the destination. She loved the church, teaching Sunday School, and faithfully attending while she was able, as well as volunteering in many ways throughout her years.

Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband, H. Glenn Hunter. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Mitch and Kim Hunter of Concord, NC, and Tammy and David Bowman of Kernersville, NC; her siblings, Kenneth Taylor (Vicki) of Clemmons, NC and Sandra Walden (Allen) of WinstonSalem. NC; her grandchildren, Jason Hunter of Houston, TX, Drew Hunter (Alyssa) of Los Angeles, CA, Nathan Hunter of Kannapolis, NC, Jonathan Bowman (Amy) of Ennice, NC, and Michael Okon, also of Concord, NC; her great-grandchildren, Hazel Hunter, Isabel Bowman, and Jameson Bowman; and her many beloved friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.

No visitation service will be held. A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to either Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 533 Oak Ridge, NC 27310, or Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County located at 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or at https://www.atriumhealthfoundation.org/get-involved/donate/
