Bayne Ashley Thomas, 89 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his home.
Bayne was born July 13, 1926 in Anson County to the late B. Ashley Thomas and the late Grace Allen Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joel, Don, and Otis Thomas; and sisters, Almeda Nall, Gary Dunn, Rachel Baucom, Alice Sommers, and Louise Lee.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Michael Taylor and Rev. Brian Medlin. The burial will be in at the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Bennie Ruth Barbee Thomas of the home; sons, Alan Thomas and wife Debbie of Albemarle, David Thomas and wife Jeralyn of Locust, Mark Thomas and wife Angie of Stanfield; daughter, Susan Adams and husband Ron of Albemarle; six grandchildren, Lori Huneycutt, Ryan Thomas, Abby Thomas, Clint Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Nathan Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Drew and Kinsley Huneycutt, and Nara Thomas; brother, Jack Thomas; and sisters, Maxine Myers, Peggy Carey, and Sue Tucker.
Bayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a wonderful father and loved his beautiful wife. He was also a good neighbor. Bayne loved cattle farming and riding his tractors. He was a faithful member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir, and was a Deacon. He honorably served his country in the United States Army in Germany during WWII.
