Ben "Wayne" Collins, 77 years of age, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Monroe Rehabilitation Center.
Wayne was born July 3, 1940 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Benjamin Laverne Collins and Christine Catherine Collins. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm on December 6, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland, NC . The memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Midland. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home following the service.
Survivors include his wife Carol "Sue" Collins , daughter, Tammy Smith of Pageland, SC, daughter, Mary Ann Helms of Indian Trail, NC.,daughter, Sue Ellen Crump of Concord, NC. Six grandchildren; Anthony Helms, Amanda Greene, Amber Adams, Clay Crump, Daniel Helms and Katherine Helms; four great grandchildren, one sister Mable Smith.
Wayne served in the United States Navy, was a member of the American Legion, Post 535 and had worked as a machinist.
