Bennie Andrew Hartsell, 72, of Locust, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.
Ben was born July 12, 1942 in Stanly County to the late Theodore Andrew Hartsell and Sudie Bet Coley Hartsell. He was also preceded in death by brothers, J. W. and Jason Hartsell and nephews, Billy Jason Hartsell and Bobby Hartsell.
He was a retired farmer. Ben loved gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Coyle Baptist Church, 12168 Coyle Road, Stanfield, officiated by Rev. David Sanders. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will be meeting at the home of his son, Mitchell, 110 Church St., Locust.
Survivors include son, Mitchell Hartsell (Debra) of Locust; daughter, Sandra McLendon (Cleveland) of Albemarle; sisters, Joyce Baucom of Stanfield, Shirley Linker (Carl) of Locust, Mary Hayes (Ted) of Mint Hill; brothers, Cecil Hartsell (Louise) of Locust, J. D. Hartsell (Peggy) of Locust, Glenn Hartsell of Mt. Pleasant; former wife, Pearlie Hartsell of Albemarle; and several nieces and nephews.
