Berman "OW" Owen Walter, 75, of Concord, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019.
OW was born April 23, 1944 in Concord to the late Berman and Callie Ruth Walter.
OW was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for 23 years for Overnight Transportation. He was also the proud owner of "OW's Street Rods" for 28 years. He served as an Usher at Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church. OW was a member of Good Guys Street Rods and loved restoring antique cars and hot rods. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at his country store, sitting in rocking chairs, and restoring antique gas pumps. Most of all, OW loved spending time with his granddaughters. He was dearly loved; always helping anyone in need, and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include beloved wife of 56 years, Joyce Walter; daughter, Wendy Gilman and husband, Ben, of Charlotte; granddaughters, Lauren and Grace Gilman; and nieces, Patty Starnes and Robbin Barringer.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 12:15 pm, Friday, June 14, 2019 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Revs. Roxane Almond and Tam Wensil. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
Memorial donations may be made to Rocky Ridge United Methodist Building Fund.
