Berry (BP) Lanham

Berry P. Lanham, age 89, of Concord, NC passed away from this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at CMC-NorthEast with his family by his side.

He was the youngest of 8 children to L.L. and Margret Lanham in Adairsville, GA on September 28, 1925. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hutcherson Lanham, whom he was married to for over 51 years.

BP was employed by Klopman Mills in Shannon, GA for 46 years before retiring. Most of his life he resided in Rome, GA, moving to Concord, NC in 1996. Mr. Lanham, affectionately known as Pop by his family, was a man with the utmost honesty, integrity and humility. His passion was buying and selling. For years his home became an open flea market where he was quick to help anyone and became a great friend to all.

In addition to his many friends he is survived by his son, Barry W. Lanham and wife, Debbie of Concord, NC; two grandsons, Todd and wife, Dana of Davidson, NC and Stephen and wife, Stephanie of Mt. Pleasant, NC; six great grandchildren, Madison, Karah, Morgan, Cooper Lanham and Jacob & Danielle Foley; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. His gentle spirit will be especially missed by all.

BP was a charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Rome, GA and at the time of his death he was the oldest living charter member of East Floyd Masonic Lodge, in Rome, GA.

A visitation will take place in Rome, GA, Saturday March 14 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Oaknoll Chapel, a graveside service with Masonic Honors will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens, Sunset Hills.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “The Salvation Army”, PO Box 5188, Rome, GA 30162.
