Bertha Tucker

Bertha Hinson Tucker, 97, of Oakboro, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Trinity Place, Albemarle. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The service will follow in the church sanctuary at 4:00 pm. officiated by Dr. Wayne Bennett, Dr. Phillip Hunter, and Dr. Gary Pinion. At other times, the family will meet at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Tucker was born on August 23, 1915, to the late Martin Hayes Burris and the late Mary Elizabeth Hinson Burris. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Hinson and her second husband Matthew Tucker. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Hinson Drye of Oakboro; two grandsons, Scotty Drye and wife Ruth, Paul Drye and wife Elane; two great grandchildren, Joy Drye Lee and husband Darryl, Cameron Drye and wife Katie; step grandchildren, Corey Hesley and wife Jennifer; three great great grandchildren.
