Bertha Whitley

Bertha Campbell Whitley, age 95, of Albemarle, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Immanuel Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 22 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at Immanuel Baptist Church at 4:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Joe Smith. Burial will be in the Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Mrs. Whitley was born in Stanly County on October 26, 1916, to the late Isaac Campbell and the late Julie Hall Campbell. She is also preceded in death by her husband William Pearl Whitley in 1983. She is survived by two sons, Bill Whitley of Albemarle, Steve Whitley and his wife Gwen of Oakboro; one daughter, Jane Stoker of Norwood; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1309 Old Charlotte Road, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Whitley family.
