Bessie "Bebe" Rogers Fitzgerald, age 97, formerly of Albemarle, passed away October 7, 2009 at Scotia Village Retirement Center in Laurinburg, NC. Born in Stanly County February 10, 1912, Bebe was preceded in death by her parents: Martin Luther and Carrie Moody Rogers, her husband, William Claude Fitzgerald, Jr., sisters: Virginia Stonestreet, Geraldine Chrisco and brothers: Charles J. Rogers, H. Wells Rogers, Oron J. Rogers and Dwight L. Rogers. While living in Albemarle, she was a very active member of Central United Methodist Church. She was retired from the Stanly County School System as a secretary. A memorial service will be held Saturday October 10, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Central United Methodist Church in Albemarle with a receiving afterward. Bebe is also survived by her daughter, Carol Fitzgerald Vallecillo and husband Dr. Ray Vallecillo of Beaufort, NC, sons: William C. Fitzgerald, III and wife Carolyn of Pinehurst and Richard R. Fitzgerald of Albemarle, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Surviving sisters are: Jewell Culp (Henry) of New London, NC, Betty Moser (Robert) of Lincolnton, NC and brother William M. Rogers (Ruth Ann) of Albemarle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be may to Scotia Village Foundation at 2200 Elm Avenue, Laurinburg, NC 28352 and Central United Methodist Church, 172 N.
