Bessie Whitley

Bessie Mae Long Whitley, 93, of Concord, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at St. Andrews Living Center in Concord.

Bessie was born May 16, 1929 in North Carolina to the late Henry Jacob Long and the late Janie Mae Long.  She was also preceded in death by husband, James Buford Whitley; and by twin brother, Jessie Ray "Buck" Long; along with brothers, Worth Long, Dave Long, Bruce "Pete" Long, Ed Long, and Wilbur Long; and sisters, Marybelle Trexler and Blanche Widenhouse.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am - 12:40 pm, Monday, August 29, 2022 at Hartsell funeral home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell funeral home of Concord in the chapel, officiated by Rev. Josh Kurtz.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park of Kannapolis at Hwy. 29N at I85, Exit 58, Concord.

Survivors include daughter, Pam (Kenny) Frye  of Concord, NC, sons, James Steven Whitley and Curtis Buford (Pam) Whitley; grandchildren, Eric Frye, Tara (Josh) Kurtz, J.C. (Cortney) Whitley, Shane (Daniel) Whitley, Matthew (Parris) Whitley, Chris Whitley, and Kayla Whitley; great-grandchildren, Wesley Kurtz, Micah Kurtz, Whitley Hayes, Kolton Hayes, Annistyn Whitley, Hunter Whitley, and Addilyn Whitley.
