Bessie Morgan

Bessie May Hartsell Morgan, 80, of Oakboro passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at her home. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Big Lick Baptist Church, 668 Big Lick Road, Oakboro. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jeff Springer, will follow at 2 p.m., with burial at Oakboro Cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at her home. Bessie was born in Oakboro on April 18, 1932 to the late Sebastian Hartsell and the late Lectie Sarah Jane Huneycutt Hartsell. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Coy Morgan; brothers, Charles, Hubert, Hardin, Truette, Junior, Bill, and James (Bo); and sisters, Ruby Fedders and Flossie Alvarez. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Morrison and husband Sammy Lane of Midland; a granddaughter, Angela Morrison of Concord; and her very special friend and caretaker, Jane Simpson of Midland. Bessie was a weaver at Cannon Mills and retired after 42 years of service. She was a member of Big Lick Baptist Church.
